21 Apr Aboriginal group off to France
A TALENTED group of indigenous dancers hopes to travel to France next month for international indigenous dance festival Le Souffle du Reve.
The Tweed-based troupe has been dancing together for 14 years and will be the only troupe invited to represent Australia – as long as they can raise $4000 to get there.
Troupe leader and artist Stephen Larcombe said it was important for Australia to be represented.
“We’re the only Australian group going so we need to be there to represent our country,” Mr Larcombe said.
“Furniture design company Corporate Culture has made a donation of $3000 but we need another $4000 to afford it.
“We’ve been dancing together for almost 15 years and this will be the first time I’ve been overseas so we’re really excited.”
You can make a donation or buy some of Mr Larcombe’s art to help get the troupe on the plane.
